Unveiling version 2018

I’m so THRILLED to announce that Rider & Ranger have taken an evolutionary step forward in 2018. Ranger (as of now) has an additional five points of articulation in the hand with a thumb that can adduct and abduct and the other fingers have three joints each instead of two. Rider’s hands continue to have the same articulation as before but are created at twice the resolution rendering a much smoother and more solid/less fragile result. I put together this image to properly identify the major differences and advantages of each:

(all orders placed after 2/24/18 feature these improvements)

Why so few blog posts!

Goodness why so few blog posts??

Well, the honest truth is that I’ve been incredibly busy building armatures.  Since updating the product listing to show the wooden version of Rider and all other small armature variants, the popularity of these products has skyrocketed. Same happened with our product listing on Amazon.  So this is great news of course!  Just feel embarrassed at how little blog posts I’ve made.

And it’s not like there isn’t stuff to blog about either. Like for instance, I recently made some major improvements to Rider’s hands (cosmetic and strength-wise) and am working on a new articulated hand for Ranger that features additional range of motion on each finger and the thumb. I hope to be taking photos and posting updates on these things soon.

Also have been building so many other cool custom armatures for customers but there just hasn’t been time to take pictures.

Thank you so much for everyone’s patience. Oh, if you’d like to see something cool, head on over to our A10 indiegogo campaign and check out the latest update. I posted pictures of the completed ballerina models: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/a10-ballerina-manikin-dance#/updates/all

Custom mouse armature with four fingered hands and long tail

Just finished this cool custom armature for comic book artist Cory Carnes. It was fun working on a custom head build for a change AND a four-fingered articulated hand 🙂

Cory doesn’t have a website yet, but the comic strip will be called “Field Mouse”  So keep an eye out for it. He’s planning on using this custom armature to help him achieve a number of difficult to draw angles while maintaining proportional and structural consistency between the drawings of the characters.

Contest Finalists. Vote here!

We’re so happy to finally announce the finalists for the Nov/Dec Art Manikin Challenge and our last challenge for 2017. All entries were very strong all around making it immensely difficult to narrow it down to four. But narrowing it down to the final grand prize winner? Well, don’t look at me, that’s up to you by voting here: (select your two favorite finalists and the one with the most votes will win the grand prize)
